In short: the app collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics and no ads, and your documents never leave your device unless you send them somewhere.

The app

• No data collection. SS Markdown has no analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising and no account. Scorchsoft Ltd receives nothing from the app.
• Offline. The app's only network use is downloading a Google Font when you choose one. That request goes to Google, which sees your device's IP address, as with any download. Google's privacy policy applies to it.
• Your files. The app reads and writes only the files and folders you open with it, through Android's file picker or share sheet.
• On your device. The recovery journal, version history and settings are stored in the app's private storage and are removed when you uninstall it. History can include text you have deleted from a document.
• Share sheet. To make recent files two taps away, their names appear in Android's share sheet and the launcher's long-press menu. You can turn that off in Settings → Sharing.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP addresses) to serve and protect the site. The film on the home page is played from Scorchsoft's own video server (videos.scorchsoft.com), and only when you press play.
